This drawing was my first attempt at a portrait much larger than myself and represented a time of much learning and development. However working on this piece off and on for 2 years was about much more than technical development, it was about the personal challenge of really thinking about what it means to serve others (as it stared me quite literally in the face). We are not here to be served but rather to serve , for me this perhaps the most challenging yet essential acts of our human purpose.
